Week of November 18th Announcements

Reach the Community

Toy Drive

We are coordinating with the local Christmas Connection Program through the Charles County Children’s Aid Society to sponsor a toy drive.  This year we would like to focus our efforts on toddlers (under age 5). You may bring in NEW unwrapped gifts (no violent gifts please!) and leave them in the Information Area.  If you have questions, contact Winter Peed (301) 645-9537.  Gifts must be brought in no later than Sunday, December 9th.

Vine Community REACH Week

Beginning in December, we are going to begin a monthly REACH Week where we spend the week focused on the community around us.  It is our desire during this week to communicate clearly to our community that we are friendly, that we care, and that we are willing to serve.  Each REACH Week will include opportunities for us to serve our community together.  We will meet together on Saturday, December 8th, for the following opportunities: sorting food donated to the food drive, delivering “Welcome to the Community” packets to the new neighbors in our area, and for those who are up for a little fun, handing out dollar bills to Christmas shoppers.  Mark the 8th on your calendar and join us for our first ever Vine Community REACH week.

Books for Children

JEWELS are collecting books for the Children’s Aid Society.   Please helps us provide new or gently used  books for children ages 0-18.  Books will be collected on November 18th, 25th and December 2nd.  You can drop off the books on Sunday mornings.  Books can also be given directly to Patrice McJett or Cynthia Kraus.

Christmas Food Drive Continues

Once again The Vine Community Church will be partnering with other local agencies/churches in collecting food items for the Christmas Connection food drive.  New Life Network of Churches’  goal is to fill Christmas baskets for 250 families who are in need, disabled, or shut-in.

If you are interested in assisting with this food drive, please contact New Life Church Office at (301) 645-9537.   If you are interested in donating food items, you may drop them off in the lobby until December 2nd.  For further information, contact Winter Peed at (301) 645-9537 or the New Life Church Office at (301) 609-8423.

Connecting with Others

We Want to Pray for You

We have set up a prayer blog that will allow you to pray for others and for others to pray for you.  If you have a prayer request that you would like the church to pray for, all you need to do is fill out the prayer section on the back of our communication card and check the box allowing us to place your request on the blog.  Requests will be e-mailed to the prayer ministry team.  They will be in prayer for you.  Soon you will be able to request prayer on the prayer blog website directly.  To view the prayer blog, visit our website and view prayer requests under the ministries tab.

Subscribe to E-mail Updates

You may have viewed our continually updated Announcement and Prayer Blogs on the website.  We try to keep these current so that you can stay up to date.  You now have the opportunity to subscribe to both or just one of those blogs so that the latest information is sent directly to your e-mail account.  If you are interested in being updated on announcements or prayers directly by e-mail, fill out the personal information on the Communication Card and check the appropriate box. You can also sign up directly on the blog itself.

The wise guys will be competing in penny wars to raise money for World Hope, specifically child trafficking.  All coins brought in will go in your child’s age group jar.  All dollar bills will be put in other age groups jar to be subtracted from their coins.  We will also be collecting can goods for the food pantry.

Red Carpet Event  11/25/07

Wise Guys and Kid Co. will be celebrating their uniqueness by dressing in their favorite outfit to walk the red carpet.  Photographers will be on hand to get their best pictures.  This will be followed up by a Thanksgiving party!  Anyone interested in helping out with this event please contact Donna.

My Christmas Wish List Christmas Eve Service

New Life Church (our parent church in La Plata) has decided to come to “OUR’ building for Christmas Eve this year.  We are partnering with the New Life Network of Churches to hold ONE huge Christmas Eve Service titled “My Christmas Wish List,” at the North Point Gymnasium on December 24th at 7:00 PM.  One of the greatest purposes of the network of churches is to come together at times to accomplish more than any one of us can accomplish on our own.  Our children, our musicians, our pastors, our congregations will work together to fill the 5000 available seats in the Gymnasium and reach Southern Maryland with the truth of Jesus this Christmas Season.
